Gene Messer Ford Lubbock can help you learn why your vehicle is shaking.
One of the most uneasy feelings is when you can feel your car vibrating while you are driving. Is it a flat tire, did that pothole break my car suspension, or do I have a busted driveshaft? There are several parts that could be the cause of the vehicle shuddering, and the severity of the potential problems can vary greatly. The most likely cause of the vibrating most often happens near your car’s rims and tires. They plant the vehicle to the road, and if anything is broken, you’re going to notice. On a more serious note, it could be a broken caliper or a broken transmission mount. These more major failures might leave you stuck on the side of the road.

If you recently bought different wheels and tires, your car vibrating could be from the wheels and tires that weren’t balanced correctly. Tire balancing is making sure the tire and wheel weight is. If you notice the tire shaking when you are driving, it may be an unbalanced tire. If you have confirmed that the new tires and wheels are properly balanced, but the car is still shaking, make sure the tires are inflated to the proper air pressure, and be sure to check if the lugnuts are fully tightened and make sure the tire pressure is correct. If you find that your tires are the cause of the shudder, you should have them checked out immediately.
If the vehicle shakes when braking, that’s a pretty strong indicator that you might want to have your brakes checked out. The most obvious reason for your steering wheel shudder is warped rotors. When a driver presses the brake pedal, brake pads compress against the brake rotors to create friction which will then bring your car to a stop. A smooth brake rotor surface provides smooth braking. A warped rotor surface will shudder when braking, like how a brick road feels bumpier than an asphalt highway. Other potential causes of the vibrating include frozen brake calipers or damaged suspension components. If you notice your steering wheel wobble, bring it in to get it inspected.
If a vehicle is shaking before you ever start driving, then you probably have some broken parts. The most obvious causes of a car shaking at idle are:
Worn Driveshaft – If damaged or not perfectly balanced, it might be the source of the shakes
CV joints That Have Gone Bad – Working in conjunction with the drive shaft, cv joints get the engine power to the wheels and, if they are failing, can be the source of the car shaking.
Engine Mounts That Have Failed – As the name suggests, these parts help secure the engine to the car. If they are broken or damaged, it can allow the engine to engine shake.
